When Adela (Ana de la Reguera) and her husband successfully slip across the border illegally from Mexico into America, they think they’ve won. Both find work and begin a peaceful life. But every year their peace is shattered by The Purge, a morbid tradition that for 12 hours turns the United States into a hell of lawlessness. No rescue or emergency services work, and all crimes, including the most serious, become entirely legal. Adela solves this “inconvenience” by hiding with her husband in a supportive community that knows how to defend itself from potential attackers.
