When Adela (Ana de la Reguera) and her husband successfully made their way illegally from Mexico to America, they thought they had won. They both found jobs and began to lead a quiet life. Every year, they too are disrupted by the Purge, a morbid tradition that turns the United States into a hell of lawlessness for twelve hours. None of the emergency services are working and all crimes, including the most serious, are perfectly legal. But Adela has managed to solve even this "inconvenience" by always hiding with her husband in a friendly community that knows how to defend itself against would-be attackers. The moment the redemptive sirens sound, announcing the end of the Purge, all the drama ends abruptly, the wounded and the dead are collected, the damage is repaired, and they move on. Unless, of course, someone decides to continue the rampage regardless of the consequences. And when more than one person gets the idea at once, the bloodbath of all-against-all is unstoppable. Those who want to survive must either be more sharply charged or take advantage of the brief window during which the benevolent Mexican government leaves its borders open to American refugees.
