Author Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) writes successful novels set in the most exotic locations. The fact that she hardly ever leaves her apartment is irrelevant. Another paradox is the fact that her hero, the charming adventurer Dash, is portrayed on the covers of her books by the very impractical nerd Alan (Channing Tatum).
