Writer Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) writes successful novels set in the most exotic of places. That she practically never leaves her apartment is beside the point. Another paradox is the fact that her courtly hero, the charming adventurer Dash, is embodied on the covers of her books by the very impractical dork Alan (Channing Tatum). He's sexy, but useless, and that's pretty disturbing. He'd like to do something heroic. He gets his chance when a slightly insane billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) kidnaps the writer right in front of him.
