The history of human civilization is full of incredible stories of unknown people who, through determination, bravery and cleverness, triumphed over adverse conditions. But it also holds many other stories that no one has ever heard, read, or seen.

Many such personal stories, hidden or lost, involve women who have moved in "men's" worlds. And Hidden Figures uncovers one such story. The NASA of the 1960s is often presented in pop culture as the pinnacle scientific organization, where the greatest experts collaborated on a common goal: getting an American astronaut into space.

That it couldn't have been done without women scientists, engineers, mathematicians, computer programmers, and other women also working in the space program is mostly lost on us.
