The story takes place exactly nineteen years after the Last Crusade, during the nascent Cold War. In it, Indiana Jones is a retired archaeology professor who, despite his turbulent past, enjoys peace above all else and is beginning to look dangerously like his own father. His old instincts are awakened when he discovers clues leading to the legendary Crystal Skull and, more importantly, information that Soviet agents are after this supposedly powerful artefact.
So Indy shakes off his fatigue and embarks on another extraordinary adventure that takes him into the heart of the Peruvian jungle where this precious relic is supposed to be hidden. This time his arch-enemy will be the all-powerful Russian agent Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett), accompanied by an army of cutthroats. Nor is Indy alone on his quest. On his side are kindred adventurer Mac (Ray Winston), who is, however, prone to double-cross him at any moment, pompous dude Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf), who permanently makes fun of his age, and his first and apparently lifelong love Marion (Karen Allen)...
