After his latest triumph, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) returns home to find that he has lost all his money due to a ruthless financial advisor. What's more, injuries from previous fights have forced him to leave the ring. So Rocky, his wife Adrian (Talia Shire) and son Rocky Jr. (Sage Stallone) move back to where he started out – a run-down, cheap neighbourhood in South Philadelphia. However, he must overcome deep-rooted bitterness and resentment, which grows as his new protégé, young boxer Tommy Gunn (Tommy Morrison), improves. When Tommy turns against his teacher and publicly ridicules him, Rocky realises that he has one more fight ahead of him...
