When successful financial advisor Derek Charles (Idris Elba) moves to a new neighborhood in Los Angeles with his beloved wife Sharon (Beyoncé Knowles) and son Kyle, everything seems perfect. But then the beautiful Lisa (Ali Larter) joins the firm as a temp, and Derek's life takes a strange turn.
One misunderstood conversation at a company party, where Derek tries to comfort a girl crying for her boyfriend, results in Lisa becoming obsessed and starts to cruelly mess with Derek's career, his marriage and his life.
