It must not hurt a person. He must follow orders. And he must protect himself. In the not-too-distant future, on Earth in 2035, when robots are a reliable and integral part of everyday life, Detective John Spooner (Will Smith) is assigned to investigate the mysterious death of Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell), who was the spiritual father of artificial beings and formulated the three laws of robotics, which state that under no circumstances may a robot harm a human.
At the scene of the crime, the detective finds the robot Sonny. Did the scientist commit suicide or did the robot murder him? This would not only be a major violation of the aforementioned laws, but also a huge threat to humanity. What would prevent robots from taking over society if humanity is dependent on their existence? Or is this revolution already quietly taking place?
