One of the important films of the so-called New Czech Wave of the 1960s, which was included among the ten best domestic films of all time. The feature debut of screenwriter and director Ivan Passer is also his only feature-length film made in the then Czechoslovakia.

In this peculiarly sad comedy, two classmates - musicians - meet in a small town ten years later: one is a member of the regional symphony orchestra, the other has made it to the director of the town's music school, builds a family villa and plays at funerals. This story of ordinary Czech people takes place in a small town, where a former classmate of the director of the local music school, Karel Bambas, arrives as a soloist at a concert of an amateur symphony orchestra.

Over the course of a few hours, the fates of these two conservatory students, who meet after ten years, are confronted. One has a career and a beautiful girlfriend, the other plays at funerals, builds a house, grows gooseberries and raises children. You'd think it was nothing, wouldn't you? Nevertheless, it's a capital B movie that represents the only Czech film by Ivan Passer, who later made many great films abroad...
