- Description
Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller), a shy and constant dreamer serving as a photo editor for Life magazine, hardly meets reality in his monotonous life — so he prefers to live in his daydreams. There, he transforms into the perfect romantic hero, fighting for a better, fairer world. He punishes villains, rescues dogs from burning houses, and defends vulnerable women. In his dreams, he also becomes the object of admiration for his colleague Cheryl (Kristen Wiig), whom he frequently involves in his fantasy excursions without her knowledge.
But in real life, one day Walter must take a decisive step into the unknown and leave behind the safe haven of archives filled with negatives and photographs — where his greatest enemies are slowly settling dust and slights from his boss (Adam Scott). To prevent being fired, he must find a lost negative of a photograph meant for a magazine cover. To do so, he has to find the famed photographer Sean O’Connell (Sean Penn). That doesn’t mean just calling a taxi and driving a few blocks. It means embarking on an adventurous journey around the world, through the wilderness and the planet’s most remote corners — because the elusive photojournalist-adventurer is a star, famed for his relentless pursuit of the story, no matter where it takes him. So Walter sets out to follow his trail...
