Old West grit meets modern technology

In 1909, as the Old West gives way to modern automobiles and automatic weapons, a ruthless outlaw gang led by John Fain (Richard Boone) raids the McCandles ranch, wounding family members and kidnapping young Little Jake for a $1 million ransom. Desperate for help, the boy's grandmother summons her estranged husband—the legendary, tough-as-nails gunfighter Jacob "Big Jake" McCandles (John Wayne). Accompanied by his loyal dog and two adult sons, Big Jake sets off into harsh frontier territory, determined to deliver the ransom on his own terms...
