George, a weak-willed middle-aged man, and his young wife Teresa live in an old castle on a small isolated island. George is madly in love with Teresa, but she is bored with her husband. A pair of criminals on the run arrive on the island. One of them dies from a gunshot wound, and Teresa chooses his partner for her games. George is convinced that his wife has been raped, so he takes a rifle and shoots the gangster. Teresa leaves the island, and George remains sitting on a rock, longing in vain for his wife's return...
