- Description
Cindy and Bob Russell have to leave Cindy's father's sudden illness and have no choice but to entrust their three children - high-schooler Thea, nine-year-old Miles and five-year-old Maizy - to the care of Uncle Buck, a sworn bachelor known for his bohemian, undisciplined lifestyle. Buck, employed at his longtime lover Chanice's tire shop, takes on his role vigorously, countering Miles and Maizy's mischievousness quite easily, but clashing with the negativistic teenage Thea. In an unusual role, Buck demonstrates unusual ingenuity, a sense of humor, but most importantly, heart and responsibility, and soon wins over his nephew and young niece. The rebellious Thea takes revenge on Buck by scheming to hinder her relationship with a classmate: causing a rift between Buck and Chanice. Buck protects Thea from an unwanted sexual experience, and Thea appreciates his life wisdom. During a week with the children, Buck realizes that his bachelorhood can lead to loneliness and that he misses his wife and family. To the delight of the children, the wonderful Uncle Buck reconciles with Chanice and sets out to enrich his life in other ways...
