The story of Viktor Navorski, who arrives in New York. He is unaware that during the long flight a military coup has taken place in his country. He is not allowed to enter the US. Faceless, with a passport from a non-existent country, Viktor Navorski must spend some time in the transit section of Kennedy Airport, waiting for the civil war in his country to end.
The weeks and months are getting longer and longer. Viktor slowly discovers the labyrinth of the Terminal - a condensed world full of absurdities, generosity, ambition, fun, social status, and romance, which he discovers with the beautiful stewardess Amelia. But Victor is not yet done being greeted by airport official Frank Dixon, who sees him as a glitch in the bureaucratic system, a problem he can't solve and one he's desperate to get rid of...
