Based on the realities of one of the most spectacular scandals in U.S. history, the fictional film American Hustle tells the story of top con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who, along with his similarly cunning British partner and lover Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), is coerced into working with FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper), who is completely out of control. DiMaso takes them with him into a world of Jersey political machinators and mobsters that is both dangerous and alluring at the same time.
