New York cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) arrives in Los Angeles to visit his wife, who is at a Christmas party in the unfinished Nakatomi building. However, German terrorist Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) and his team storm the building and take all the guests hostage (including McClane’s wife). Only McClane escapes via the fire stairs.
