George Clooney and Nicole Kidman as experts in the fight against international terrorism. When a special train carrying ten nuclear warheads explodes in the former Soviet Union, Dr. Julia Kelly (Nicole Kidman), a specialist in detecting stolen radioactive material, is convinced that this is merely a staged accident intended to cover up their planned sale to terrorists. The White House tasks her with investigating the entire incident with the help of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Devoe (George Clooney). However, his unconventional work methods initially lead to mutual misunderstandings and clashes. The challenging task, coupled with the constant threat to their own lives, brings the pair closer together, especially as millions of people find themselves in direct danger.
