Using stop-motion animation, the story unfolds in a 19th-century European village about a young man named Victor (voiced by Johnny Depp in the original), who accidentally makes a marriage vow to a mysterious dead girl (originally voiced by Helena Bonham Carter) and is drawn into the world of the dead.
