Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) is an individualistic cop who doesn't accept the rules of the game because he has nothing left to lose. He investigates a series of mysterious murders that could be linked to the deaths of his wife and child. Max's world is a dark New York, but here it is a city in decay, a city ravaged by crime and drugs.
On his journey, he encounters powerful forces - both real and supernatural - that seek to hide the overwhelming truth and silence Max forever. The sound of huge wings can be heard and their shadow can be seen almost in the darkness. A winged Valkyrie demon with a gaping mouth and red eyes is the key clue to those who destroyed Max's family. He's also the one who threatens Max and sends others to their horrific deaths...
