In the tug of war over the stolen goods, all three end up as little souls in the castle pond with the waterman. When they find themselves at the gates of heaven, St. Peter sends them back down to earth to return the key to him or else they will go to hell. The quest takes them to the castle, where, in addition to the beautiful princess and the king, they encounter the treacherous chancellors and their devious plans. But finding the key may not be enough, heaven is not for crooks and thieves. Will they even manage to get better?
