- Description
In the second half of the 18th century, when Prague is devastated by the recent Seven Years' War, the young Josef Mysliveček leaves for Italy. Despite being the son of a miller, he wants to fulfil his dream and make a name for himself as an opera composer in this centre of European music. Thanks to his talent, but also his charisma and luck, he manages to break through in a few years in the great competition of Italian composers. As a highly prestigious servant of the ruling class, he gains access to the highest social circles and the undying favour of women. Unfortunately, not the one he desires most. The City is therefore trying to translate this into his music. Without the opportunity to live with the woman he loves, he must settle for other pleasures, and they take their toll. The ailing Myslivecek, gradually turned away from by his former supporters and well-wishers, eventually dies poor and forgotten at the tender age of forty-four...
