Hatari! - DVD

"Hatari" is an adventure film by renowned director Howard Hawks, whose title means "danger" in Swahili. It tells the story of a group of big game hunters in the East African republic of Tanganyika (now Tanzania) who specialize in capturing live animals for zoos. Hawks, a passionate safari lover, had been planning this film since the mid-1950s. He cast John Wayne in the lead role of the charismatic hunter Sean Mercer, who is the leader of the group. Alongside him are other characters: photographer Dallas, played by Italian beauty Elsie Martinelli; former race car driver Kurt, played by German actor Hardy Krüger; comedian Red Buttons as driver Pockets; French adventurer Chips, played by Gérard Blain; and hunting expedition patron Brandy, played by Michele Girardon.
