In Jonathan Swift's modern, family-friendly and comedic 3D take on the classic tale, Jack Black (The School of Ro(c)k, King Kong) plays Lemuel Gulliver, an ordinary guy who sorts mail at a New York newspaper office and dreams of becoming a travel writer. He tricks his editor Darcy, whom he secretly loves, into commissioning him to write an article about the Bermuda Triangle. But during a trip to Bermuda, Gulliver is shipwrecked and ends up in the undiscovered land of the Lilliputians. Here, he is initially arrested by General Edward (Chris O'Dowd), but soon becomes a giant admired and respected by all.
Gulliver helps the simple boy Horatio (Jason Segel) woo the princess (Emily Blunt) and manages to defeat the hostile Blefuscian army single-handedly. Add to that a few fictional tales of how he invented the world's greatest inventions and was at the center of some of the world's most important events, and his importance takes on truly gigantic proportions. But when the real truth about who he is comes out, Gulliver loses all the favour he has won with the Lilliputians. What's more, he puts the Lilliputians in grave danger, leaving him no choice but to find a way to undo all the damage he has done.
