Why enjoy this crazy comedy on DVD?
The DVD format is the perfect match for movie enthusiasts and collectors who value traditional physical media releases, 100% playback compatibility across all home theater systems or laptops, and a straightforward user experience. The disc delivers a clean, stable digital picture optimized for standard displays alongside a rich Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound track. This ensures that the iconic anthem "Scotty Doesn't Know", the chaotic chanting of football hooligans, and the nonstop hilarious dialogue come through your speakers with great cinematic dynamics.
A quest for a sexy pen pal that went completely off the rails
High school grad Scott Thomas (Scott Mechlowicz) gets brutally dumped by his girlfriend Fiona, who cheated on him with a wild punk rock singer (Matt Damon). Depressed and drunk, Scott harshly rejects his long-time German email pen pal, "Mieke", assuming he's talking to a creepy guy. Shortly after, he uncovers a devastating mistake—Mieke is actually an incredibly gorgeous German blonde who was into him. After Mieke blocks him, Scott realizes he just made the biggest blunder of his life. Along with his unhinged best friend Cooper and twins Jenny and Jamie, he flies to London. This kicks off a chaotic, low-budget journey across Europe through Paris, Amsterdam, Bratislava, and Berlin, all the way to Rome.
💡 Fun Facts from Production
- Bratislava Filmed in the Czech Republic: The legendary scene set in a supposedly impoverished Bratislava, where the gang buys a luxury hotel experience for less than an American dollar, was actually shot in Milovice, an abandoned military area in the Czech Republic. In fact, most of the movie was filmed in and around Prague.
- Matt Damon's Legendary Cameo: Hollywood superstar Matt Damon appeared as the tattooed, bald punk singer Donny by pure coincidence. He was in Prague shooting *The Brothers Grimm* at the time, and since he was college buddies with the movie's writers, he happily agreed to do the crazy cameo.
- A Real Alternative Hit: The catchy theme song "Scotty Doesn't Know" was written and performed by the real-life alternative rock band Lustra. The track became so popular after the movie's release that it actually charted on the US Billboard Hot 100.
