Taking a page from his father Clark Griswold, the man with the vision in 1983's Crazy Holiday, his son, hard-working family man Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms), wants to spend some time with his wife Debbie (Christina Applegate) and their two sons Kevin and James. With the idea of returning to the place of his vivid childhood memories, the exciting Walley World, he decides to surprise his family with a proposal for an unforgettable cross-country road trip in their rented Albany SUV. However, as the Griswolds embark on a journey for a proper family reunion, and as disaster after disaster strikes, Rusty's romantic intentions seem to go down the drain. Can a few minor mishaps derail Rusty's plans to create the perfect family vacation?
