The Coen brothers offer us after the Oscar-winning Fargo - The Big Lebowski. The Big Lebowski is a big movie. Not by Hollywood standards, but by the humour and sheer verve with which the actors perform their characters. Incidentally, the Coen brothers had Goodman and Buscemi, their lead actors, in mind when writing the script, but they didn't think of casting Bridges until after the script was finished. Then they couldn't imagine anyone else in the role, the Coens say. And Bridges couldn't have confirmed their choice better. They tailored the Chandler-esque hero, with the requisite cigarette, in casual attire that doesn't go far for a rugged expression. It's just hilarious fun. Jeffrey "Dude" Lebowski is an incorrigible Los Angeles slacker. One day, two gangsters break into his apartment and urinate on his pulse. The robbers mistake him for Jeffrey Lebowski, a Los Angeles millionaire whose wife owes some very bad people a lot of money. But the Dude gets himself into big trouble when he pays a visit to the real Lebowski to replace his soiled carpet. Instead, he unwittingly becomes a go-between between Lebowski and the captors of his now "kidnapped" wife...
