The Petrified Forest - DVD

After years, the classic drama The Petrified Forest (1936) directed by Archie Mayo returns to DVD, featuring a star-studded cast including Leslie Howard, Bette Davis, Genevieve Tobin, Dick Foran, and in one of his early iconic roles, Humphrey Bogart. The film takes us to a remote gas station and diner in the Arizona desert, where the paths of an idealistic but disillusioned intellectual, Alan Squier (Howard), and a dreamy waitress, Gabrielle Maple (Davis), intersect. Her desire for a better life and to travel to Europe seems impossible until a dangerous gangster, Duke Mantee (Bogart), and his gang, fleeing from the law, unexpectedly appear at the roadside stop.

Tensions rise with each passing minute as Alan, Gabrielle, and other guests become hostages. Alan finds a kindred spirit in Gabrielle, and a long-lost hope awakens within him. Duke Mantee, a cynical criminal, becomes the catalyst for unexpected events and confrontations. The Petrified Forest is a gripping story about dreams, illusions, despair, and unexpected alliances set against the backdrop of the harsh American landscape. Don't miss this cinematic gem on DVD!
