Meet Steve Zissou (Bill Murray), the legendary underwater explorer, notorious braggart, and man famous worldwide for his documentary series about the vibrant life in the blue depths. However, recently fate hasn’t been kind to the famous oceanographer – his best friend and longtime collaborator Esteban was recently eaten by a hungry jaguar shark, and rumors are spreading that Zissou is slowly losing his zest for life. Then suddenly appears Ned Plimpton, a Southern gentleman (Owen Wilson), who claims he might – or might not – be Steve’s long-lost son, whom he never had the chance to know. The domineering, egotistical, and adorably eccentric Zissou is ready to make a film that will surpass all his previous documentaries in grandeur.
