The brilliant film drama The Green Mile, based on the book by Stephen King, was directed by Frank Darabont, who also contributed to the screenplay. The film, featuring an outstanding performance by Tom Hanks in the lead role, was nominated for four Academy Awards. At the center of the story is John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), a black giant awaiting execution for a crime he likely did not commit, and yet he will die, alongside the eternal dilemma of deciding on the death penalty. The plot takes place in a prison where the worst criminals are held, and where there is a terrifying hallway painted green, which everyone calls the Green Mile. The hallway, at the end of which death awaits. Unless a miracle happens...
