The heroic mutant X-Men face the threat of total extinction. In fact, they were always on the brink of extinction, but now the threat is more real than ever. So the only salvation seems to be a journey through the past to the very beginning of the chain of events that caused the current situation.
The creatures with specific abilities are revisited by Bryan Singer, director of the first two films. In X-MEN: THE FUTURE PAST, we encounter the largest number of mutants in the history of the franchise. Set in two timelines, the film features two forms of Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart, James MacAvoy) and his main antagonist Magneto (Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender).
Only Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) appears the same, and that's mostly due to his ability to agelessly and regenerate at lightning speed.
