The Burlesque Lounge has seen better days. Tess (Cher), a former dancer and the owner of the venue, struggles to keep the failing theater alive while facing a variety of financial and artistic challenges. It seems that due to the personal problems of the troupe members and the threat posed by a wealthy businessman who wants to buy the place from Tess, the club’s glory days are gone for good. At this time, the life of Ali (Christina Aguilera), a girl from a small town in Iowa, changes dramatically. Tess hires her as a waitress at the Lounge, allowing Ali to escape her empty past, and she quickly falls in love with the art of burlesque.
