Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander) is 21 years old and has just inherited a huge business empire. Her father, a wealthy nobleman and famous adventurer, Lord Richard Croft (Dominic West), disappeared without a trace seven years ago when she was a child. Since then, she has been trying in vain to find some meaning in her life. When she reads a mysterious note left by her father, she decides to leave London and venture into the unknown to find out what really happened to her father. She follows in his footsteps in search of a legendary tomb on a mythical island off the coast of Japan. But this mission won't be easy - just getting to the mysterious island will take a great deal of effort on Lara's part. The ship that was supposed to take her to the mainland is wrecked in a violent storm, and Lara finds herself alone in the middle of nowhere, equipped only with a sharp knife, a strong faith and her own stubbornness. If she can overcome her own limits and survive this dangerous adventure, she will become a true Tomb Raider...
