Lee (John Krasinski) and Evelyn (Emily Blunt) Abbott are raising three children. All of them are still alive. In fact, they very quickly learned the rules that came into effect after their arrival on Earth. Who are they? No one knows. All that is known is that they have an extraordinarily developed sense of hearing and every sound attracts their attention. And their attention means certain death for humans, which the Abbotts soon learn the hard way.
The Abbotts have been one of the few to survive so far, thanks to the fact that their eldest daughter Regan is deaf, so knowing sign language was an absolute necessity for them even in "normal times". In addition, they have developed a number of safety measures to protect them on the remote farm where they live, ranging from a soundproof basement to foam-wrapped dice for Monopoly. But will it be enough to keep them safe? For such a life is like dancing in a minefield, waiting for one single but fatal mistake. Moreover, Evelyn is pregnant and the due date is fast approaching. And some life events simply can't go by without screaming...
