- Description
Detective Dave Starsky (Ben Stiller) is Bay City’s most zealous cop. When he's on duty – and he’s always on duty – no crime goes unpunished. Following in the footsteps of his mother, one of the city's finest officers, Starsky is determined to keep the streets clean. Unlike his mom, who spent her career with a single partner, Starsky burns through his partners thanks to his over-the-top enthusiasm. Detective Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson (Owen Wilson), on the other hand, has the opposite issue – he's a good cop, but his laid-back attitude and taste for easy money often get in the way of solid police work. His instincts are sharp, but he needs reining in from time to time. Frustrated Captain Dobey (Fred Williamson) comes up with a solution to both problems: pair Starsky and Hutch and send them out together. On their very first day, a mysterious body washes up on the shores of Bay City. With help from Hutch’s slick and well-connected informant Huggy Bear (Snoop Dogg), the new partners begin unraveling a complex murder case. Along the way, they encounter cheerleaders Staci (Carmen Electra) and Holly (Amy Smart), who are more than happy to help – in any way they can. All clues point to wealthy businessman Reese Feldman (Vince Vaughn), but Starsky and Hutch can't find the evidence to bring him down. Meanwhile, Feldman is secretly preparing the biggest drug deal of his career, aiming to outsmart the DEA...
