With the men trying to come to terms with their new leader, their patrols become increasingly hazardous, as a sudden escalation in the violence leads them to confront the most dangerous assignment of their tour. After winning six awards at the BAFTAs, the film went on to win another six Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
