When the democratic regime in Nigeria falls and a ruthless military dictator seizes power, a seasoned Marine veteran A. K. Waters (Bruce Willis) is given a seemingly routine assignment - to smuggle out of the country a member of Doctors Without Borders, Dr. Lena Kendricks (Monica Bellucci), who is caring for the victims of a raging civil war in a remote village.
The doctor is willing to leave the village only on the condition that Waters' men arrange for the villagers to be transported to the nearby border. If left to their fate, they would soon fall victim to a large rebel army.
The soldiers are willing to take the ultimate risk and escort the villagers through the dense jungle. However, they face a difficult decision as to whether one man's life is worth more than their own and the other refugees they consider it their moral duty to save.
