Young police officer Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) grew up surrounded by crime. This makes him an ideal scout in the ranks of mob boss Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson). He must gain Costello's trust and put him behind bars with the help of his colleagues (Mark Wahlberg and Martin Sheen). Sergeant Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) has the absolute trust of his colleagues. No one suspects that he is Costello's man.
Director Martin Scorsese has made a thrilling tale of crime and its consequences that you can't take your eyes off. It's like staring down the barrel of a gun when you don't know whose finger is on the trigger - the cop's or the criminal's?
