Sitting on a Branch, Enjoying Myself (1989), a poetic tragicomedy by director Juraj Jakubisko, follows two wanderers – Pepe and Prengel – who return to post-war Czechoslovakia after years on the road. The world around them has changed, and both men struggle to find their place among fractured relationships, unexpected life roles, and the hope that even in chaotic times one can still discover joy and humanity.
The film stands out for its distinctive humor, striking visual style, and memorable performances by Ondřej Pavelka, Bolek Polívka, Markéta Hrubešová, Deana Horváthová-Jakubisková, Miroslav Macháček, and Štefan Kvietik.
The newly restored Blu-ray edition delivers the highest possible picture and sound quality, allowing audiences to rediscover this cult Czechoslovak–West German co-production.
