There are 23 different people in Kevin. Any minute now, the 24th is about to appear... The dubious honour of meeting him goes to three female students who were originally taken home for the holidays by the father of one of them. A moment later, a strange man was behind the wheel, and instead of explaining himself, he put them to sleep with chemicals. They later wake up locked in a basement room, where their captor soon arrives to see them.
They're certainly no wiser from their conversation with him, though, because Kevin is clearly a nutcase. Nor are his mother or little Hedwig, who follow them into the dungeon, any better off. Make no mistake though, it's definitely not overpopulated, all these other inmates are just a product of Kevin's personality disorder. A psychologist (Betty Buckley) tries to help him, but even her years of experience don't seem to be enough to counter his extraordinary ambivalence.
One of the incarcerated girls, Casey (Anya Taylor - Joy), who wants to take advantage of Kevin's condition to escape, also tries to understand him. Moreover, as a girl with a torturous childhood trauma, she is an extremely resilient and resourceful species with a strongly developed survival instinct. She's gonna need it. Kevin's twenty-fourth personality is due to awaken any day now, and all indications are that he's definitely not going to be a positive hero...
