Rare blue parrots Blu and Perla live a quiet urban domestic life in Rio, Brazil. Their three children are growing up with them. The youngest, Raubir, is true to his name and craves adventure, especially if it involves a little destruction. The next is Bia, who has become a bit of a wanderer, which means he understands and knows everything, and what he doesn't know he quickly learns. The oldest of the children is Karla, who thinks she has reached the age when she should slowly break out from under the protective wings of her parents and start expressing her personality - perhaps through music. When Perla decides that they all need to learn to live like real birds, it's just a step closer to a crucial decision - to go on a family trip to the Amazon jungle.
Blu hears a lot of reasons from her friends why she shouldn't go and what dangers await them there. But in the end, she follows the advice of Rafael the toucan and his advice that a happy wife means a happy life. And so they find themselves in the Amazon jungle, where they have a somewhat unexpected reunion with their relatives, which ends their belief that they are the last blue parrots in the world. Moreover, Blu doesn't feel very confident in the jungle. For one thing, he must unexpectedly face his most formidable adversary - his father-in-law - while avoiding the evil plans for revenge orchestrated by the villainous and vengeful cockatoo Nigel...
