A young couple, Gil (Owen Wilson) and Inez (Rachel McAdams), who are due to marry in the autumn, arrive in Paris with her parents. Gil is an undistinguished writer who loves Paris and would like to move here after the wedding. However, Inez doesn't share his romantic notion and doesn't think the city was a golden age in the 1920s. One evening, Inez goes dancing with her friends and Gil walks through Paris at night. His midnight experiences reveal Paris in a different light and affect more than just his future life. He lives in an illusion that people sometimes suffer from and believes that other people's lives would be much better for him...
