Adele (Kate Winslet) was left by her husband some time ago, and she still hasn’t recovered. Instead of caring for her thirteen-year-old son Henry, he takes care of her. The breakdown of the marriage has only deepened her isolation, and she anxiously avoids contact with the outside world. Her only exceptions are regular trips to the nearby supermarket for supplies. During one of these outings, she meets Frank (Josh Brolin), who quite firmly asks her for help. Frank has just escaped from prison, was injured during his escape, and is looking for a temporary hiding place—at least until the first wave of the manhunt dies down. Terrified, Adele takes him home and tries to accommodate him in every way, just to make sure he doesn’t harm her or Henry. Gradually, however, it becomes clear that beneath the rough surface of a criminal lies a tragic story of a man who wouldn’t hurt a fly if circumstances hadn’t forced him to—and Frank slowly starts to reveal his true self to Adele. A woman who had subconsciously resigned herself to living the rest of her life in despair suddenly feels a spark of happiness, hope, and love. She realizes she finally has someone to lean on—even if he is a fugitive. The only question is whether it can last longer than one long weekend at the end of summer...
