On Friday, October 13, 1972, a plane carrying the Uruguayan national rugby team crashed in the Andes. This marked the beginning of one of the most incredible stories of survival, one that has also sparked the most speculation. Many people died in the crash, but some survived. After a few days, they learned via radio that all rescue operations had been called off. No one believed anyone could have survived. The weather was getting worse, and their limited supplies were dwindling by the day. Two team members therefore decided to cross the Andes and return with help for the rest. They succeeded in their brave endeavor and returned with aid. In the meantime, however, 29 people died, and the remaining 16 managed to survive only through cannibalism...
