Kepler 822, a research and drilling facility operating in the depths of the Mariana Trench, is penetrating the Earth's interior. When a mysterious earthquake hits the site and destroys most of the deep-sea station, mechanical engineer Norah (Kristen Stewart) and a handful of survivors must don heavy diving suits and make their way across the dangerous, black ocean floor to find a way out. Now left with scant options, the deep-sea divers must keep their cool to deal with the high pressure and danger they face as they zigzag among the scattered debris of the drilling rig. But the vast, unexplored ocean holds a deadly secret - there is something strange in the abyss that the aliens have awakened...
