The Beach - DVD

Being young, being able to travel the world and enjoy life, that's something! With the promise of adventure, a young American backpacker, Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio), arrives in Thailand. Travel, he says, is a search for experiences, a search for something new, something special. In a cheap hotel in Bangkok, Richard meets a young French couple - Etienne (Gillaume Canet) and Francoise (Virginie Ledoyen). At the same hotel, he meets the deranged, drug-addled Daffy (Robert Carlyle), who tells Richard an unlikely tale of a secret island, Paradise on Earth, with a beautiful beach unspoiled by tourist raids. The next day, Richard finds a scrap of paper pinned to his door, containing Daffy's hand-drawn map of the mysterious island...
