Description:

During the North vs. South Civil War, severely wounded Union soldier John McBurney (Clint Eastwood) is saved from certain death by a young girl from a nearby Southern boarding school. When she decides to hide him in the safety of the boarding school, the local women and girls are initially shocked, but eventually decide to help the soldier, even though he is an enemy.

As John gradually recovers, the women around him become captivated one by one by his unmistakable charm. The atmosphere at school begins to thicken, with signs of jealousy, deceit and betrayal in the air...
