Michael Kovak doesn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps and work in the funeral home, so he enters seminary school where he can receive a free college education, despite not being strong in matters of faith. After four years, he is ordained as a priest and travels to Rome for a seminar on exorcism led by Father Xavier. There, he meets Angelina, who is writing an article about the seminar for a newspaper. She is another reason why Michael doesn’t want to be a priest. Father Xavier realizes that Michael is uncertain about matters of faith, so he sends him to Father Lucas, a renowned Jesuit exorcist. Michael witnesses the exorcism of a pregnant sixteen-year-old girl, Rosaria. He sees several supernatural events. Rosaria’s condition continues to worsen, and the girl attempts suicide. Father Lucas tries again to expel the demon from the girl’s body, but she dies along with her child. Did the devil die with her?
