The disturbing vision of a deadly flood haunts Noah (Russell Crowe) in his dreams with increasing frequency. The wise Methuselah (Anthony Hopkins) helps him interpret this and other strange signs. The earth finds itself on the brink of destruction, brought about by the human race. The Almighty decides on a complete restart in the form of a gigantic flood and chooses Noah and his large family to restore the human race. Knowing that destruction will come with the flood, Noah begins to build an ark, a giant ship on which he and his family will be saved. During construction, he must contend not only with a lack of time, his own doubts, and the fears of his loved ones, but also with the open hatred of his fellow tribesmen, led by the cruel descendant of the famous fratricide Cain (Ray Winstone). In addition, he must invite representatives of all animal species to join the voyage so that life on the ‘new’ Earth can be complete.
