Among us also live the Others, an elite caste of followers of the forces of Light and Darkness, who draw magical power from human energy. Its use is governed by the Agreement, controlled by the Inquisition. According to it, every good must be balanced by evil. The forces of Darkness defend the right to unlimited freedom of human action and the truth about the cruel reality, while the forces of Light constantly consider whether their actions might trigger escalating undesirable consequences.
